Begich Endorsed By Bering Straits Native Corporation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 10/17/2014

ANCHORAGE- Mark Begich is honored to receive the endorsement of the Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) for re-election to the United States Senate. As Alaska’s U.S. Senator, Mark Begich has consistently fought for subsistence rights, resources for veterans living in rural areas and worked with Alaska’s congressional delegation to deliver results.

“I’m honored to have the support of the Bering Straits Native Corporation for re-election to the U.S. Senate. I fight everyday on behalf of Alaskans, and I am humbled to receive this endorsement. In my second term, I will continue to fight for Alaska Native subsistence rights, defend important rural Alaska resources like bypass mail, work with my colleagues to combat high home heating fuel costs and continue to support our veterans in rural areas like Nome,” said Senator Mark Begich.

“The stakes in these elections are far too great for BSNC not to publicly endorse candidates, particularly in the close senatorial and gubernatorial races,” said BSNC Chairman Henry Ivanoff. “At the State level, Alaska needs an administration that responds to rural and urban issues and one that places a priority on the health and well-being of its citizens. Having balanced representation in Washington is also desired and we have a strong advocate in Senator Begich,” he added.

BSNC is an Alaska Native Corporation that was established by the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971. It is owned by more than 7,100 Alaska Native shareholders.
