Putting Alaska First

Putting Alaska First

I am a senator that always puts Alaska’s families and communities first. This means always putting Alaska before any party or special interest group. It’s why I have fought to ban Frankenfish, stood up for Alaskans’ Second Amendment rights, successfully pushed for responsible resource development and critical infrastructure investments to connect Alaska communities. Since I have taken office, I have:

  • As chairman of the Commerce Committee’s subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries and Coast Guard, secured new resources for the U.S. Coast Guard to keep Alaska fishermen and mariners safe, ensured the Arctic is safely and responsibly developed, and fought to keep Alaska’s world-renowned fishery stocks healthy
  • Expand veterans care in Alaska and fought to shorten the wait time on claims processing so Alaska’s veterans get the care they deserve – when and where they need it
  • Secured critical resources to improve Alaska’s military bases, expand their missions and stop the proposed move of the F-16s from Eielson Air Force Base
  • Fought to secure critical permits to move forward on oil and gas development in Alaska’s Arctic and expansion of mines throughout the state, creating jobs and boosting local economies.
